In a moment that will be remembered for decades, the legendary Bulgari 'Laguna Blu' blue diamond took center stage at the 2023 Met Gala, gracing the neck of the iconic Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Bulgari's Global Ambassador.

This dazzling pear-shaped blue diamond weighs a whopping 11.16 carats. Since it was crafted into a ring for a private collector over 50 years ago, the Laguna Blu has been kept hidden from the eyes of the public, until its grand unveiling at this year’s Met Gala honoring the fashion icon, Karl Lagerfeld. There were hundreds of carats of diamonds at the star studded gala, but none captured quite as much attention as this diamond did.

According to diamond experts, this is the most valuable Bulgari to ever reach auction. Very soon after its Met Gala debut, this diamond went to an intense auction at Sotheby’s Geneva Luxury week in May, where it sold for over $25 million! 

Any blue diamond is a rarity within a rarity, holding a unique place in the world of colored diamonds, but the Laguna Blu is on a whole other level. Its exceptionally bright blue color, with its extraordinary depth, earned it the highest possible grading for a blue diamond by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). It’s classified as a 'fancy vivid blue,' which is like a blue diamond's gold medal. It would be hard to find anything that could come close to this one-of-a-kind gem.
